Interested in pursuing a PhD in our laboratory?
Our group participates in the IUSS PhD Program in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnologies (SBB). This is a three-year program starting on 1 October each year. Candidates are selected based on their CV and an interview with a selection committee.
Calls are generally open between April and June, with selections and interviews taking place in September. Successful candidates receive a three-year fellowship and may choose the laboratory where they will conduct their research from those officially participating in the program. If you wish to join our group, please make this clear in your application.
Previous research experience in biochemistry or structural biology is not required. The committee carefully assesses each candidate’s motivation to pursue a PhD and join a specific research team, their commitment to research and their interest in moving to Pavia.
This is the only route for joining our research group as a PhD student.

Enquiries from enthusiastic candidates are nevertheless always welcome. Our institute provides a challenging and stimulating environment combining experience in difficult problems in enzymology, molecular biology and structural biology with appropriate research infrastructure. Crystallographic data are also collected at state-of-the-art European synchrotron light sources.
